Clicking and Sloshing behind dash!

Hey all,

So my 04 GT1 has water sloshing in the dash, heater stopped working and I can smell coolant but cant find a leak. I think it is a plugged up heater core... Are there any easy fixes? Or am I going to be paying for a $1000 job soon? Can it be bypassed in these cars? ALso, there is a weird clicking coming from behind the dash about 3 minutes after the car is shut off. It also does the clicking when I unlock the car with my clicker.... Is it an actuator? What is this noise it is very annoying.... Any insight?

I couldn't find a leak either but I was loosing coolant. Check your heater hose connector. On my 06 it was underneath the alternator. You will need to bleed the system to if that is the culprit.

yeah, thatll cause loss in heat. can you hear the heater kicking on? but just no heat coming on? usually when you hear the sloshing around, its air in the system

Ok cool. I will do that Saturday morning and hopefully that fixes it. How does the air get in the system? Also, does anyone know what the clicking behind the dash is it is annoying its behind the dash? Its definitely mechanical... I think its an actuator or something.

It's common for the plastic coolant elbows by the Alt to go bad. The 0-rings get eaten away and leak. You lose enough coolant you get air in the system and you can hear the sloshing in the heater core.

so the fan works but blows cold? and clicking in the dash right? do you hear the clicking only when you work the temp controls or all the time? and your not running hot or overheating or under cooling? temp gauge is ok?

i would start with bleeding the system, if that fails it could be a actuator has a cracked gear in it, is it both sides are blowing cold?

if you remove a actuator and turn the knob manually and get heat, you found your problem.

heres a ling to how to remove them little buggers.

you could also lift the carpet to see if its getting wet under it to rule out the core leaking.

and check you lim bolts for wetness, the bolts could be leaking. thats where my coolant was leaking from. i was loosing like 2 cups a week, not much but enough to notice it was missing. a flashlight in broad daylight will help see down there on the back side better.

I bleed the system for the third time and the overheating stopped. Now I have a leak on the right side of the motor, I had the shop pressure test; system is sealed.... WTF? They shop said it is leaking from the resoivor when it overheats... I call bull****... What do you guys think?
