Scrape with quality razor.

Should leave a nice even surface.

Scotch brite would work well, but gm advises against it.

Found a very light abresive wheel cleaned block nice but the thread that i read said it had need to be mirror like ther is a little bit off grey spots not like the gasket material just like coloring in the metal possibly but the block looks veryn clean and almost mirror like still have to tear down the sc motor and get my top swap off

auto zone gave me some gunk engine degreaser and said spray and let sit for 5 then wash with hose but water?

Just take a razor and scrape the rest of it off. Not sure why they recommended engine degreaser. You could also use goo gone.

GM was finding that the material was ending up in the engine and destroying bearings. I use the rolocs all the time and have never had an issue. Cover the lifter valley and parts you aren't cleaning. Wipe with brake cleaner. Take some care and time and it'll come out great.

ok and do u guys use that copper gasket spray stuff on your headgaskets

ps thanks alot this site has so much usefull info and you guys are great thanks for the help
