Cleaning and painting emblems?

So I purchased some turbo Grand prix badges:

They will be going on:

My question is has anyone painted badges before? There is some gold I'm not too fond of. The red isn't bad as it would match the red arrow head. I was considering going over the gold in a white or black. Or maybe do the lettering in white and the rest in black. What do you guys think would be the best paint to use for it? I was considering automotive touch up paint. They will be placed where the factory GTP bades were located.

Hmm wonder if I could possibly find some overlays for them. Anyone have any thoughts?

That's kinda what I was thinking as well. These badges are reproduced for $50 a pop and OEM's like this go for $100+. My only thoughts on why I wouldn't want to paint them.
