cld i beat a sentra

vailskier3

just call me john-o
so this kid that i work with has a 05 nissan sentra with 4 to 1 header, manual trans, FWI, DP, and a strait pipe.

i have a 07 GP base with a FWI and thats all

i'm worried that the weight to power ratio is in his favor...

anyone able to shed some light on this for me?

I've never had any issues tearing up sentra's..even boosted. But I have never been in a non s/c GP, so really it could be like you said in his favor.

probably not a big deal then. I doubt he will beat you. I beat one with my 95 riviera with a hai. Race him from a stop thats where these cars shine ;)

hmm...i figured he would have me off the line due to him being manual and much lighter. also, i've heard that my FWI gives it better top end. well, thanks for the input, i guess there's only one way to find out. he didn't really seem too interested in racing me, so i don't know how long it will be, but i would like to take him...

if it isn't the SE-R or SE-R Spec V...the thing has a 1.8 liter 4 banger...NO WAY you wont be able to take that even b/c of weight...

i hope you're right, and it actually might be the SE-R, but i know its not spec v. he's telling me he's 185hp at the wheels, so i thought it would be close.

rmmm...you have one thing he dont....torque...hahaha But him having a stick..dunno! But I would race him anyways!!! keep us updated!

Dont fear the stick, just stay in the throttle and you will win within the first 60' of the race.

Stick isnt actually an advantage, especially an abused daily driven one. If you stay in it and shift yours manually your going to embarass him.

Nice kill, and even a spec-v is easy to beat in the 3.8 N/A, I just miss being able to highway race with m3's and m5's

really? shift manually? i'm not very experienced with that...does it really make a difference? just mash it and shift at like 5800?

just leave it in "D". You still have the advantage as long as he doesn't flat shift and actually know how to drive. Launch your car a little.

he's just got some decent mods, and i don't want to look stupid. i think i'll just mash it in D when i do race him

You should do fine. With a manual tranny, he's going to have to roll off the clutch...this is where you need to get the jump on him. Plus in a maunal tranny you can miss gears. Leave it in "D" for the run. Most import motors are made with top end power in mind. Torque is your friend.
