Chime

Okay this happens all the time with any of the doors open. Lets say somebody is getting out of the car. They open up the door and the chime thing goes off. Well when it goes off sometimes it will short for a second and the lights will flicker off for like .3 seconds and the radio will turn off and back on. It only does it when the doors are open. And when it does it i can hear a click noise. is that black module that does the chime going bad?

after some research, it seems this is pointing towards a bad ignition switch, i ordered a new one, ill post back with an update when i install it

I've been battling this problem for 3 years now. I have tried everything from installing a brand new ignition switch, to having it sit at Pontiac for 2 days. This has baffled 3 mechanics so far. No one can pinpoint the problem. I have replaced the Ignition switch, BCM, all relays, all fuses, checked all grounds, etc...

Pontiac gave it back to me saying they couldn't find anything wrong with it. I drove it for a few weeks after getting it back from them, with no symptoms, and thought it fixed itself (ha!), until I put in an aftermarket Alpine headunit in. After the install, it started right back up. Now it happens on a daily basis. Everytime I open the door, trunk, or when any of the DIC chimes sound (low fuel, etc...). Took the Alpine out, and put the factory radio in, and the problem still persists

I give up...

sounds like laziness by the repair facility. They didnt want to diag it so they just threw parts at it. its got to be in the wiring to the bcm. 2 wires touching? I know it sucks but start chasing wires
