Chevy Silverado project



parents wanted me to get something to stop me from streetracing and running into poles... so i got a big ass truck. lol im not worried about the mpg but id be stupid not to put somethin to raise it, if i cant no worries. just didnt know if there were any tricks that could raise it acouple
 
I wouldn't really worry about it. Anything you do to raise it a little will be reversed by something you do that lowers it. Meaning you get a nice intake and it raises it 1-2, tune it get 2-3, put mud tires on it and lift a little and lower it 4-5... you're back where you started and then you go to play and gas all gone.

Just build it as a off-road toy, and don't worry about mpgs.

Honestly, there is not much you can do outside of a tune and driving habits. I've had 6 or so of the 99+ Chevy trucks. Had a couple 6.0's and some 5.3's never had a 4.8 personally. If I could drive nice in my stock height Sierra 1500 avg of around 19mpg. Intakes don't help in these trucks as the stock boxes flow very well and get air from the fender behind the headlight. Look into the airaid mit kit, it's a replacement intake tube and uses stock box with a drop in filter. My lifted 99 Sierra 5.3 with 6" lift and 20" Wheels/35"x13.50 tires, tune, gear swap, and light pedal mod I got a best tank of 15 mpg.

my brother gets around 18-20, with 20's for wheels, he also has a 5.3.

yeah it took him some time finding those wheels for it. pretty sure hes got a billet grill with a GMC badge on it. i got him the GMC emblem for the aftermarket grill. cant seen to find a pic of it tho.
 
that is a clean yukon! ive always wanted one of those when i was younger. but i might just look into a nice exaust instead of the intake ill look around see if i can find a good siverado forum to ask

i had a little time before work so i made these quickly. id like to get one about this size but cant decide what color.

Never really been a fan of those, I see them all the time on 4x4s in the area. If you have your heart on it tho, I would suggest going a bit wider on the band, it looks kinda skinny. Not alot but a little thicker.
 


i never noticed the hard tonneau cover before. i like those. its nice if they come off real easy tho. i had a soft one, as per the fukin law here.

if you have anything in the bed, and its not tied down, or the bed covered, or a cap. its a 175.00 ticket here. "loaded with potential to spill" is what they call it.

thats the most rediculous law i have ever heard. what if youre haulin dirt or manure? but i love it i want to sell it though and get a tool box then get one of the half bed tonneau covers but they are expensive!
 
i got mine done at a auto upholstery place who did all sorts of work. like custom canvas boat covers, to car seats and doors. head liners and vinyl roofs.

i had a tool box, then had them attach the soft top to the tool box, like they would have the bed, then they used snaps to hold it down. i had those diamond plate side bed covers, and the tail gate as well, so i had the snaps into those, not the truck bed body. yes they wore out but they are fixable. with the bed hoops that hold the cover up some, (keep rain off it) only needed 2 instead of 3, installed cost 175.

i also had then tie down hoops in the center steak pockets, and ladder racks, so they cut and trimmed around all that stuff for me. looked pretty good.
 


went to work and i seen these on a truck and i think i might ask my boss if i can buy them off of him. what do you guys think?

my tires are pretty new so maybe next summer i will get nice set like that but the more i think about it im just goin to keep the rims i have now. easy to maintain.
