Well if it has rubber floors, then yes it was a Police edition model. I should know, I drove a few of those back in the day. But they were not that fast. They were the standard NA style 3800 engines. They are not supercharged or anything.

The newer Impala's that our City and County Police ride in now I believe use the 3.9L engine with dual exhausts, not sure on what tranny they have, but I am guessing it would be most likely an HD one given the amount of hard driving they go through.
