Cheapest way to a low 13's GTP?



it all depends on the tune and pulley size with the amount of boost your putting down.
a good streetable cam is the VS cam, as well as the XP and s1x.
the s1x and XP are pretty similar in terms of powerband, they both make power in the mid to higher rpm range, but the VS cam likes to make power in the lower to midrange rpm's. if you get a cam though, make sure to get different springs. i suggest crowe 105's.
also you NEED to have a way to tune if you do any pulley dropping.
 
Doing the work yourself? Rockers headers 3.4 and port a bit should get you there, I ran a 12.7 with just that some slicks and 200lbs of weight reduction. If i have $800 in mods I'd be suprised.
 


I know a guy in 12's with nitrous and only 2k spent on it. Port your SC and LIM yourself (Heads too if youre comfortable and can get a cheap valve job), open cone, headers, rockers/cam/nitrous, pulley, tune. there ya go.
 
Yeah the guy who made the 2600lb regal, that thing was pretty nuts too bad it lost pretty much all functionality in the interior.

rear seats, passenger seat, center console, floormats/carpet, diagonal braces, cruise control, AC, headliner, door sills, window wipers & motor...etc.

Otherwise to answer this question: Cheapest way to a low 13's GTP?

Race gas, 3.4" pulley, dropped exhaust, open cone intake, slicks, weight reduction, and a prayer it doesn't explode the second you hit the gas.

That should do it.
 


take all seats out, replace only drivers seat with lightweight sparco or other seat, take out the interior trimming, speakers, run low fuel, ummm...im blanking but theres more probably.

I seriously have taken none of that stuff out.

I removed the ABS 5lbs, and no more random abs'ing to a halt when I hit a pothole
the metal bracing under the kick panel 4lbs
the engine lift brackets 4lbs
replaced the dog bones with aluminum turnbuckles was about 3lbs
headers actually are about 15 lbs lighter than manifolds, and no cat is lighter as well.
The sound proofing in the front fenders that just soaks up water was gone as well as the foam and metal in the doors from when i replaced the window motors there is also some foam in the body in the rear-seats that can go. yup 12 lbs from all of that crap and the car is not any louder on the inside with new door gaskets.
Ever go to a concert and turn your back to the stage? nope didn't think so so why not get rid of the back speakers and just get good 5.25" up front that saved about 10lbs
The rear middle seatbelt that no one has ever used because these cars aren't meant for 3 adults in the back? yup 3 more lbs there. when the battery died I replaced it with a 75 series, that saved about 10lbs
Grand am brakes are the same size and all aluminum saved 21 lbs.
Aluminum subframe that will also never rust 26lbs.
Aztek front bumper support also aluminum and will not rust was 9lbs.
Behind the rear seat is a very heavy rubber and foam mat that is about 8 lbs that can easily be taken out with no repercussions.
the big cardboard piece that never fits right on top of my spare tire? gone 5lbs and just throw the big heavy mat over it.
Wait actually that can go too just leaving the light carpet one behind over the spare that's another 4 lbs.
My company makes aluminum bolts and screws so when I have a non-shearing application I've replaced them. another 3-4 lbs over a car.
Also that plastic gas tank to run e-85 eventually is a solid 8lbs lighter

Just effiecient things and if you looked or rode in my car the only thing you would ever notice different would be the speakers probably.

how much is aluminum sub framing and all that good stuff?
What would you say could be removed/reduced for a comfortable dd?
 
Can you not add? He seriously just put all the weights in that quoted comment guy.

Calculator use one. Roughly 150lbs he saved.
 


I picked mine up from a junkyard for $50, while I was swapping a rack and pinion and motor mounts, so I decided why not.

The GA brakes were a matter of getting new calipers and some R1 concept rotors, but I was going to replace those anyways, in total it ran about $300 with EBC Yellow pads.

For being comfy, that's why I kept the A/C, Heater Core, blower motor, heated seats, stereo and wipers defrost etc. Not going to lie it's a little bit noisier on the inside but probably the equivalent to driving a S-10 or Ranger around which doesn't bother me or my dog at all since most of the time the windows are down anyways.
