cheap paint jobs?

so my gt coupe is having problems with the paint chipping and flaking off around the rear wheel wells, really pissing me off. wanted to get auto finesse a loacal guy who goes around fixing body pannels and paints bumpers n crap but he wont touch mine cuz there is a bit of rust there now. i checked with a body shop and they wanted about 4k to do the whole car or almost 2k for just where it needed the wheel wells and touch up my hood. so screw that. just wondering if anyone knows of any cheaper places that do paint.

You could always do an Earl-Schieb 500dollar paint job, but youll get what you payed for. You should never be cheap on paint, but 4k does sound pretty hefty. Most bodyshops will do full paint, no body work for about 1200, with bodywork, depending on how much you need can cost anywhere from that to 3k.

Don't cheap out...but if that's your only option, at least make sure you spend the extra money on the highest quality clearcoat they have...I'm a detailer and I see people taking their cars to crap body shops and 3 months later the hood is almost as chipped as it was in the first place. Low price painters will also lay your paint down too thin the majority of the time...One way you might save some money is to not have them wetsand and buff the car after painting. You would save a few hundred doing that yourself, maybe even prep it yourself...but if you've never done any of that kind of stuff before then nevermind

This guy said it all. The only cheap paint job I would ever go with is a family friend that would do it for a little pay himself.

4k seems really high. I had a guy do a little rust repair and painted a rear quarter panel for under $400.

ya il keep looking at body shops and try to find a cheaper one.

ya cant seem to find someone who wants to do that lol.

there are cheaper places to get it done but theres a reason there cheaper your better off doing it yourself than going to a cheap place cause heres what the cheap ploace is going to do... they wont get rid of the rust they will just spray over it causing it to come back woarse and 2 they probally wont even match your color 3 I bet they get over spray everywhere 4 idk but a good paint shop is very expensive and these days even the good paint places suck

How bad Is the rust?

its not terrible its 2 spots over the left rear wheel well. one is about the size of a tenis ball where the paint is missing and only half of that has rust on it the other half is silver you can see the metal. i put touch up paint on that part hoping it wont rust as quickly. the secon part is about the size of a toonie maybe a little bigger. (a canadian 2$ coin if you didnt know) that part hasent rusted yet so also put tuch up paint on it but it still shows.
