Cheap Mods

oh well, i just did my interior lights, they're all red now. im tryna find one for the trunk lol but the passenger area is all done, footwells, map lights and courtesy lights, even the glove box light
 


scratch that lol i ordered an led trunk light, and led map lights, im waiting on them but once they're in it'll be done
 
Isn't the throttlebody on a 3100 smaller than a 3800? So he would need a smaller filter unless by SE he meant Special Edition.
 


No...and does it matter? Bigger the filter, the more air is flowing basically...I would rather have a huge filter than a tiny restrictive little cone filter. I'd put that same sized filter that was posted earlier on my Cobalt if I could...and its like a 5xmm TB...its tiny.
 
Yeah I would always choose a bigger filter over a smaller one
Those big 9" ones may be overkill but it is just good to know that there is no restriction and that your engine is getting all the air its little heart desires
 
Anyone have a write up for taking off the dashboard so I can get behind it? if there is one already sorry, but can u post the link here i didnt see one when i looked before

On my 2000 GT I put a 9" cone filter on, and it sounded like a vacuum cleaner, but I did have a little more oomff, and slightly better gas mileage. Now on my GTP, going with the same cone filter, upped my gas mileage quite a bit.

I wouldnt buy just the filter..i also have a 02' Gp se with the 3.1L and i couldn't find a cold air intake for it and i also just bought the cone filter and it didnt do anything but make a little noise..and because it's a flex intake and you cant take the air box all the way (just the front half) because they put the PCM in the box right in front of the filter in the same box..everyone i talked to said i would have to build my own....as for other mods i cant find anything other bolt on's.. so good luck with what-ever you deside to do..and let me know if you find anything

youre supposed to take the air box, corrugated tubing and all out then leave the PCM sit where the air box was. then you put the cone right on your throttle body. however, youre right about it not doing much but make a little noise.
 
I couldn't fit the air filter directly onto my N/A 3800, I had to buy a 45° elbow
Maybe if I used a shorter/smaller filter I could fit it directly on the TB

And sorry by smaller filter I meant one with a smaller end to fit on the throttle body.
You should just put a 3.8 in it lol.

Yea i know i just half the box out and stuck the filter on the MAF, But i tried it your way and took everything out and the PCM was lose and bounced around, and with it not doing anything but making noise it wasnt worth the effert of making a strap to hold down the PCM..I'll post a pic of the way i did it sometime this weekend
