Cheap Brakes

Hey guys so im a college student so i'm kind of on a tighter budget. However my steering wheel shakes on the highway when i brake and i know its time for new pads and rotors on all 4 corners(the rear pads are really worn down). What do you guys suggest to get? I know for brakes you don't really want to skimp on anything but whats the best cheapest route I could go?

I appreciate it,

Chris

cheapest route would be to have your rotors cut. at least you not on cheap steel rotors that way. it cost me about 15 a rotor last month. then some cheap part store pads, or find better pads on line.

i got this brand for the my front f bodys, and for the stock rears. you'll have to search the stock front pad part #. http://www.ebay.com/itm/400464648495?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649 these do dust up some, but bite pretty good with the f bodys, so im betting you'll be happy with the stock pads up front.

full name is "Centric Stoptech Disc Brake Pad" they sell these on the r1conseps web site, but are mch cheaper on ebay.

Centric brand rotors fit good on the lugs and laster forevver on my black 4 door id never put anything besides ceramic pads on the front everything else ive used dusts really bad.

if you never cut them before, theres enough meat left on the bone. just try not to beat the hell out of them afterwards.

Hmmm i wonder if the previous owner had them cut or not. I also heard alot of shops don't like cutting them, is that true?

i think i mine had a small warp but not to bad.

came off like this, worn the F out.

question on the rear brakes too. the inside part of the rotor is alot skinnier than the outside part. Is that how they are supposed to be or do i have an even bigger problem?

mine are solid rotors in the rears, no fins at all.

rotors on the bottom and right are rear rotors. top one is a front, it has fins.

or this

according to a thread on ls1 tech. this is a highly recommended product. Leaning towards this one.

members have gotten and seem to like this brand. seems worth it.

i know your on a budget and all. but i always try to sway people towards the f bodys when they plan to do rotors. the stopping power they add is like night and day. just food for thought. junk yards sell them for rather cheap, clean em up use em. buy pads and rotors for a 98-02 camaro/firebird. and your stock rear rotors and pads.

I got the power stop kit and have been using them for a few weeks and I lovem, If you want t some pics of what they look like its in my car thread
