Charging system failure

While I appreciate the warning on my DIC returning to my work from lunch, I can't imagine the proactive approach I could have taken by having a FREAKIN VOLT GAUGE to let me see slower charging before it got to this point. I don't understand why newer cars have to be so dumbed down.
On the bright side, this may be the first time I use the jumper cables I've carried for 6 years.

yea all cars should have oil pressure voltage and engine temp mandatory
Dummy lights are usually on the verge of being to late

Amen to that, theres alot you can tell by looking at guages that you can't w/dummy lights.
