Changing out intake manifold gaskets

Alright so im changing out the intake manifold gaskets and am unsure of what kit to get. Im doing both the upper and lower but it is hard for me to find a kit with both of them believe it or not. Should I just go to O'Rileys and order it from them or find a kit online for a better price? What brand should I stick with? Links would be great also!

Edit: Sorry its a 2000 gtp!

Hi... we'd love to help out, we don't know which engine you have. Please give us your year and model. I have never seen a kit that had both upper and lower gaskets included unless it was a full engine rebuild kit.

He has a thread to fix his 00 gtp. I don't think they make a kit for both. I like to use rockauto for the cheap prices online. Just be sure you get the metal lower one.

Yea sorry about that its a 2000 gtp but I looked at rock auto and was only able to find the lowers but maybe I just wasnt looking hard enough haha

SEARCH "lim" (with " "s) or lower intake gasket. There are tons of threads on how to do it and what all you need. It's kind of a big issue with these cars, just make sure you get the felpro metal replacements or you will be doing it all over again in the future.

the super charge gasket is called a upper plenum gasket. they sell for 11 bucks on rock auto. check the shipping at check out, sometimes they ship from 2 warehouses, and the sipping kills you. they can be bought local for 12 bucks at autozone for a flepro gasket.

the a/c delco metal gaskets were 42 bucks at rock auto. make sure you get the metal ones, not the plastic.

Alright thank you so much for clearing that one up haha

Run a search at Rockauto for # 24503911. Should pull it up, that's the GM # for the supercharger gasket.

Do not buy Garlock gasket, Felpro or GM only. Garleaks are known for leaks.

Alright thank you so much for clearing that one up haha

been there myself. went to buy one the guy had no clue what a super charger gasket was, not listed in the pc. so found it on ra listed as a upper plenum gasket, the double shipping made it cost 15 bucks, and i was doing my lim job on a tight budget, so i went back to auto zone with the proper name, and they had it in stock.

i had 20 in rewards coming to me from AZ so i got the gasket and antifreeze for 5 bucks, whole job ran me 60 bucks out of pocket.

the cheap intake gaskets dont come with much, tho. just the end rubber and metal gaskets. if you want new injector o rings and the tb gasket, and a the O rings for the coolant ports, (i went cheap) this is a more complete gasket set, they run around 70 tho. i had rtv, O rings, and thread sealant already for the lim bolts. so i needed very little more then the gaskets.

pick up a set of elbows too. i took some channel locks, and just twisted and snapped the upper elbow. then installed a new upper with the intake.

pic of snapped elbow.

Alright I just ended up gettin the lower intake gasket, upper plenum gasket, and o-rings at O'Rileys all Felpro and it ran me about 60, now all I have to do is get the coolant elbows

dont forget rtv if the kit dont come with it, thread sealant, and vac T's and some vac tubing, as those T's will break on you, its 100% probability they will crack.

and one gallon of straight antifreeze.

the fat vac line off the TB that loops to the back of the engine, it also likes to break. i used a fat line that fit the nipple on the TB, then the smaller one fit inside the fat one, then pushed it on the factory plastic line.

i took the lower rad hose off the engine, propped it up so i saved what coolant was in the radiator. then took both dog bones off, then rocked the engine back and fourth till no more coolant came out the where the hose clamped on. then start taking it apart.

when you pop the lower intake off, have the egr tube removed, the elbow broken off, then pop it up, once its free, lift it up and off as level as you can to keep what coolant maybe left in the lim. theres a lip that can hold a small amount inside it. if your careful, you wont spill any in the engine, and wont need to do a oil change. i was able to not spill any coolant, no oil change for me at the time of the lim job.

some guys like to do 2 oil changes in a row with in hours of starting it up. just to be safe.

It came with some rtv so im set with that, Thanks for the sizes too i will probably go to the dealership tomorrow to pick pick the elbows/T's up. Im probably gonna change the oil out anyways with my luck. haha
