Well...I'm that guy always changing equipment...

So I've done some things and definitely changed my install. I haven't finished but it will be a dramatic change. I'll start with the amp that will run the entire system.

Zed's Leviathan

* High performance full range class D amplifier

* 6,5,4 or 3 Channel amplifier

* 150w x 6 at 4 ohm

* 24dB/octave Linkwitz-Riley crossovers

* Burr Brown ICs in the preamplifiers

* Ch1+2 High Pass crossover

* Ch3+4 High and Low Pass crossovers

* Ch5+6 Low Pass and subsonic crossover

* Ultra high efficiency with smart power supply

I plan on wrapping my A pillars in vinyl right now but we'll see what happens. I'd like to do myself even...

I also put some random Dynamat I had laying around around the underside of the speaker where it attaches to the baffle. Then I used extruded butyl on the baffle to make sure I had a tight seal.

I'm excited. I have a slew of posts and pictures. This weekend I'm going to start fiberglassing subs behind the tail lights. Hopefully that works out well

Your sub is in your trunk!! I wanted to put it under the dash but I found out I really don't have the room with the current sub selection. Also, I really don't want to deal with ears popping when I roll down windows...so I left that pass through alone.

Yeah, and I hate it.

If i wasnt so lazy I'd build a bandpass. Eliminates trunk rattle before it even happens.

Thats a DIYMA 12 right?

It sure is! I updated photos. .5 cubic feet after deducting for speaker displacement. It'll be functioning off about 600watts bridged from the Leviathan. If I didn't want trunk space I'd build a bandpass too ;) I wonder if I could model something for that fiberglass enclosure?

Why dont your midwoofers have both sides of the spider vented? Thats very very old school/ true midrange-esque.

I cringed :p

ha :) I'm sure you did ;P

Anyways, it sounds good I suppose? I'd much rather have kick panels pointed at me. No way I can get those 6.5's on a pillar :) They definitely don't dig like a mid designed for bass but the mid-range is beautiful. I can cross them at 60hz w/24db slope. That's why I was ok with throwing out the idea of my sub up front. I originally wanted both 12's in the rear but the left side posed issues with the magnet from the DIYMA 12.

5.25 is already quite a bit.

I'd rather have good midrange than midbass anyways. Thats where all the good detail is.

Installed the Leviathan... :D

Now I just need to add a "face" plate to it so all you see is my amp!

Here's the amp glow in the trunk at night...not sure I like it yet...

I decided to check out my passive x-overs and for whatever reason they ended up sounding really good with this setup. Originally it was trash with several other setups I tried. I think they designed the cross overs for an A-pillar install because the mid has a 6db LP slope. For whatever reason it works pretty well. *shrugs*
