Changing Fan Temperature Settings

I would like to change the stock settings for the cooling fans to bring them in line with where the t-stat opens and closes, im thinking ~200 degrees. I know the tuning programs like hptuners, and chips can do this. Is there any other way to do it? Is there a tool that regular shops have that can make changes in the computer? Can a GM dealer with a service department do this? What is a reasonable price to pay for this?

Thanks.

No.

The only way you'll do it is through DHP PT, HPTuners, TintTuner (If it even supports 04+), and EFILive...you'll just need to change the fan turn on points in the PCM.

Also, there is no "chip" for these cars that do anything but lower your bank account.

Dealer and other shops ...might be able to do it although even if they have the ability, most won't know how.

Figure $100 or less is what you should pay.

Heck..being in ME, if you sent it to me, I could make the change and flip it back around pretty quick.

Thanks for the offer Bill, but she's my DD, and where I work I cannot be without a vehicle for even a day.

Out of curiosity, if i were to hard wire the fans to be always on, how cool would that keep the engine? Would it get warm enough to open the stat?

It just annoys me that GM has set the turn on points so high, it doesnt leave you much of a buffer if you develop a problem in the cooling system. This is the only car ive driven where its considered "normal" for the temperature to reach 220. Most other vehicles seem to keep the temps pretty tight, my grandmother's civic gets to temp and will not get lower than 194 or higher than 199. I have never seen that needle hit dead center.

Why don't you just buy a canned tune for your car from 3800Performance or another vendor?

It has all those settings for the fans plus more...
