Changing Axle Boots?

Can anyone help me out on how to change the boot on the axles. Ive noticed the sludgy grease and found out it was from the boot that has been ripped, and people say if you don't change it fast it could mess up the axles quick. Thanks

Just replace the axle they are cheap. Once the boot is torn dirt gets in and ruins the bearings.

A boot kit used to be about $30-$40 and axles were a couple hundred. Now a days..you can often put in a new axle for less than a couple of boot kits.

So the question would then be, do you really want to get all greasy and fight with the axle or just replace it.
