changed thermostat and now shifting weird

Can an engine thermostat have anything to do with the tranny shifting? Seems to want to hold second gear a long time before shifting since I changed the thermostat. I have an engine code too but haven't had the chance to get someone to read it.
 


Did you unplug or fray the coolant temp.wire that goes over one.of the thermostat housing nuts? Not sure.that would cause shifting.issues though.
