• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

Change Oil Soon Light

wow. I got MK2 in that bundle game (NAMCO?) for XBOX a while back and had forgotten how bad I suck at it. Still hella fun to play though!

If you have the DIC with the digital ****, there's a reset button. Just make sure you're in the oil life section. For the DIC that does nothing but show a painted picture of a car just turn the ignition and within the first 5 seconds of doing so push the gas pedal all the way down 3 times.

I thought it was A B A C A B B

Anyway....ahem.... *cracks knuckles*

and I quote....

Oil Life Monitor - Resetting
This vehicle has an engine oil life monitor. The engine oil life monitor will show when to change the engine oil and oil filter. This will usually occur between 5 000 km (3,000 miles) and 12 500 km (7,500 miles) since the last oil change. Under severe conditions, the indicator may come on before 5 000 km (3,000 miles).

Vehicle should not be driven more than 12 500 km (7,500 miles) or 12 months without an oil and oil filter change. The system won't detect dust in the oil. So if the vehicle is driven in a dusty area, be sure to change the oil and oil filter every 5 000 km (3,000 miles) or sooner if the CHANGE OIL SOON indicator comes on. Reset the oil life monitor when the oil has been changed.

Resetting Procedure
To reset the CHANGE OIL SOON indicator if equipped with the Driver Information Center (DIC).

Turn the ignition to ON without starting the engine.
Fully press and release the accelerator pedal three times within five seconds.
- If the CHANGE OIL SOON indicator flashes two times, the system is resetting. Turn the ignition key to OFF, then start the vehicle.

- If the CHANGE OIL SOON indicator comes on and stays on, repeat the procedure.

To reset the OIL LIFE indicator if equipped with a Trip Computer.

Press the trip MODE button until the light appears next to OIL LIFE.
Press and hold the trip RESET button until the oil life percentage changes to 99%.

Someone purchased a service manual!

If I want my light to go off every 3000 miles can I set it. My oil life light comes on about every 10-12 thousand miles but I want it to go on at 3000. What do I do?

You cant do that any longer that I am aware of. Now my '89 Grand Prix you could do this in. Just tell it you wanted to rotate tires every so often, change oil and other various maintenance items. Then when it came due, it would scroll across the screen such and such maintenance is due and if you reset it, it would reset for the miles you had programmed in.

i may be a putz but i cannot get this to work, i have been trying for a long ass time and i tunr on 3 times to the floor with in 5 and nada, is it L1 R1 R2 up down left right up down left right?
