catalyic converter bypass?

wondering if anyone has tried or heard of the sensor bypass of the catalyic converter with a diode or something like that.. i was trying to do it for temporary use.. thanks

they don't sell them anymore. it's illegal and not the proper way of solving the problem anyways. get a custom PCM and do it right or never at all.

unless its an 01+ then you're ****ed since it may eventually start running a O2 test aka running at 11:1 AFR all the time.

Are you 100% sure that if you use an O2 emulator on a 01+ your f*****? In the thread titled "How many O2 sensors" FoSho99 said this............................

"On 01+ cars (correct me if im wrong on the years), the pcm goes through a diagnostic check when it senses the rear 02 is bad, causing the engine to run rich and sometimes at idle it will float the rpms up and down. As long as the pcm is getting a signal from the rear 02, it will not do this diagnostic cycle, so the simulator is always needed, even if you have a tuner to delete the codes, it will not go away unless there is a sim."

Is this true? cause i am looking to gut my Cat Converter and adding an O2 emulator if this is true.

You need to run an O2 sensor then set the codes to non report.

Then you'll be okay.

Running this setup on my car ATM.

Seems to be doing just fine so far.

an emulator wont change the signal at all, it will be static. the car is looking for it to fluctuate a little.

I have a 2002. So you're saying i can gut the cat converter and get away with it by running an O2 emulator but it's better to run an O2 sensor then setting the codes to non report so that i will be able to know if there are problems with my car in the future, correct? IF so, how do i set the codes to non report? And will either way, with the emulator or with the sensor, effect the first O2 sensor?

O2 sensor.

you get them, drill the middles out of them, thread them into your rear O2 bung (two of them) then thread your O2 sensor in the second one and its done.

Parts stores in the "HELP" section.

Well the parts stores i checked said there were non compatible of an 02 grand prix. so my best bet is getting someone to tune my O2 sensor to non-report. if i can not find any then i will just have to get a new cat converter. stupid 01+ gp's makes it so much more difficult to bypass the cat converter.

If i were you I would have bought them and see if they fit in the bung and if you were able to screw your O2 sensor into one of them.

I was giving an awesome link on how to do use the defoulers. It gives step by step procedure with pics. : $5 o2 cheater/non fouler how-to - evolutionm.net. But i do have one question. How does an O2 sensor code affect the performance of the car? Why can i not just ignore the ses light and drive with it on?

it doesnt affect performance but if you have an 01+ it could start running 11:1 AFR at cruise... it eats fuel and will destroy your plugs and O2 sensors much faster than normal.

Ignoring the SES light means when something bad happens you wont know because you'll be expecting the light to stay on.
