• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

Cat Converter

I talked to my repair guy and he suggested returning it, he is rather booked/busy for a while and the price would be about the same. I talked to ZZ Performance and they will take it back and just charge me the difference and shipping. So maybe next weekend I can get this done... I was excited to see/feel/hear the difference.

Dude don't even!! Call around.. I ordered the same cat and I also got the ubend delete pipe.. Local shop said they would put it all in for me for $45 cash (normal shop I used wanted to not use what I had and put a cherry bomb pos cat on instead)... I'd call around or take your care some where.. Once the car's on the lift, ya, money talks!!!

They told me the code referred to the cat. I guess I know no different.

3" down pipe and high flow cat...hmmm...

Funny thing is this car gets 30-31mpg all the time, maybe it will get more with an exhaust that is not restrictive...

There's no way your mpg is that high.
Is there?

BwolfGT, the wife drives this car 100 miles round trip to work and back almost all freeway. All summer the DIC said 30.something. I think if I did not drive it some, it would have been more.

Currently the mpg is 27 something.

I am on th eother end of the state, near the Twin Cities. The correct downpipe should be here soon.

Wow, that's amazing. I get 17 MPG, driving it NICE.

I am guessing you are driving in town or in a city. Huge difference between sitting at a stop light versus cruising at 65. And this down pipe will be the first Mod done to this car. Possibly a FWI some day soon.

Now my '97 Coupe driven by my 17 year old son is a different story, low 20s mpg is good...

Yeah I've noticed a HUGE difference between highway and city driving, unfortunatly yeah most of the time it is city driving.

I had my new ZZ Performance Downpipe installed yesterday. I could not get the bolts loose on Saturday. Even after soaking them in PB Blaster, I was unable to break them loose, but I also was worried about breaking one off. Also I had little time for this but I spent most of Saturday crawling under this car.

Last night I was amazed at the power this car has - WOW!

I drove 93 miles and the DIC said I was getting 31MPG. This included one rather fast entry onto the freeway. Huge increase for the 27mpg.

Maybe that's what I need, I don't think the exhaust flow I have is good enough for my setup, could that be killing MPGs too?

Ahhhh i have a 2004 Grand Prix GTP and my Cat. Converter is clogged really bad. And i can't afford to have it changed right now.But my car is missing so bad and its killing me in fuel..
Does anybody know what will happen if i cut out are knock out The Cat. Converter..
And could anyone let me know whats the best and easiest way to do this...
Thanks A Bunch:th_winking::th_winking::th_winking::th_winking::th_winking:

nothing bad will happen. you will get a check engine light with a p0420 code and your car will run just fine. i took mine to a muffler shop ran by a meth addict, he had no problems risking the $250,000 fine by cutting my cat out and replacing it with straight pipe. if you can find a shop thats "cool" thats what i'd recommend. or you could just purchase a catless downpipe from zzperformance.com

Too smalllll LOL:th_laugh-lol2: My eyes my eyes.

cutting it out would basically be the same as getting it replaced as far as performance goes. like they said, you'll get a SES light, but you can ignore that. it might smell kinda bad, but you didn't have to pay for it. your call i guess
