Caspers Fuel Pump Hotwire Kit... Pros/Cons

Anyone running the caspers fuel pump hotwire kit?? Have a possible bad fuel pump resistor again in my 99 GTP and this kit bypasses the resistor and is suppose to boost voltage and they claim its good. Just looking for a second opinion before I buy it. The resistor is 50 bucks from dealer and this kit is 50 buck on Caspers site so I figured why not prevent the problem from happening again and maybe get some more voltage to the pump.

If all you are looking to do is bypass the resistor, bend the tab on the speed relay to keep the pump in high speed mode. If you think you have a high demand and need better wiring to keep the voltage from dropping off, then a rewire kit is good.

The Caspers kit is a nice plug and play kit.

Does the racetronix one bypass the resistor? I went on their site and it doesn't really specify. I would assume it does but I wanna be sure. The Caspers one makes that very clear.

Will bypassing it that way damage the pump though keeping it in high speed mode? I have heard to only run it like that with the tab bent or a loop wire in the resistor harness temporarilly if the cars leaves you stranded because of the resistor. Heard it puts lot of stress on the pump.

the rewire does the same, it just uses the stock relay to turn the new harnes power on, it runs at full alternator voltage all the time

i run ractronix but i think its pretty much the same as the caspers one, the only issue ive had was when i was dynoing the car and maxing out the fuel pump it melted the factory square plug on top of the fuel canister, but i dont know how comon that is and most people dont max out aftermarket fuel pumps anyway

No it's not. While our pumps are designed to run at different speeds, there no reason why you can't run it at full speed. Afterall, it runs at full speed when WOT. Which I always have spent a lot of time at.. shhhh don't tell the cops.

On another note, Around 20K miles ago, my resistor went out. I popped the hood, bent the tab and ... well I never looked at it again. There has been no negative fuel mileage, issues etc from doing so. I've read that a lot of others do the same with the same results.

Plus..why spend an extra $50 when bending the tab does the same.

I'll add in that my car turned 218K miles last night. It's the original pump, and possibly the original filter (based on lack of maintenance of prior owner)

Casper's and Racetronix rewires are pretty similar. Both good quality harnesses.

I have a Casper's rewire in my 01, and the stock 163k mile pump has been keeping up so far.

Alot of our cars never came with a resistor or relay even installed from the factory. Im going on 165k and never have had an issue
