Carcrobatic's White '00 GT ... SOLD!

I've decided on starting a build thread for my GP, so here goes!

It's a 2000 GT that my father bought in 200? when it had about 40k miles on it, now it's reading along the lines of 94k. Before being passed down to me he had a shop weld on some Flowmaster mufflers and some better looking tips to the exhaust system. He's rolling in a 2008 Porsche Boxster S now.

Since I got my DL in January this year, I've been looking into buying a lightweight, rwd Japanese sports car to go drifting in. I've always complained about the Pontiac's automatic transmission because I love driving standards so much more. No matter how much I've tried to convince my parents to sell the Pontiac so I could get something that fits me better, they wouldn't budge! So here I am stuck with the 'ol family car.

Over time I've grown more attached to the car, but the big reason why I'm turning this thing into a project is a drive through the mountains with my friend Eric (Corvette C4), and a small car club (Viper GT-S, '06 Mustang, Corvette C6, and a Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT-8). I pushed the Pontiac on this drive harder than ever before, somehow keeping up with all those V8's! It was easily one of the best days ever, embarrassing Eric and his precious Vette was priceless. With the new found respect for the 'ol four-door, I've decided being stuck with it for now isn't the worst thing in the world.

Just a couple months later, the old exhaust has been replaced with SLP's PowerFlo cat-back system, and a K&N CAI sits under the hood. I'm going in the direction of turning the car into something that really deserves that GT badge at the end of it's name. I'm turning the family car into a sports car!

Mods as of July 21st, 2013:
- SLP PowerFlo cat-back exhaust
- K&N CAI
- De-badge
- GMPP front and rear sways
- Doorman rear trailing arms
- Strut tower brace (front & rear)
- Clear headlight corner (right)
- Led smoke tails
- Big lip spoiler from PFYC
- Transgo Shift Kit
- B&G springs
- KYB AGX struts
- TINT
- HV3
- 2.5in Downpipe

Mods for the future:
- 304 stainless power log
- New got damn wheels
- Front air dam lip thing

The site isn't letting me uploads photos right now so I'll try again in later posts.
I'd love to hear your advice/feedback/comments!!

Re: '00 GT "White Lightning"

If they drove their cars as hard as you did you woulda been miles behind in a matter of moments

That's what I thought was going to happen, perhaps I'm just a better driver. ;)
As for the photobucket thing, just click on the photos, they get pretty big after that.

That would require a little bit of effort. After everyone fixes their car, effort tank is on empty.

Re: '00 GT "White Lightning"

After I de-badged the car I thought of doing something that would set me apart from the crowd!

I love the way the plasti-dip turned out, just two coats on each wheel really has a nice effect.

Re: '00 GT "White Lightning"

It'll set you apart for the wrong reasons. Truly looks awful. There are two places for badges. The original placement or the garbage. You car, do as you will. Just my opinion.

Got it on sale at PFYC.com, took me about an hour to install. The whistle at low rpms are great, but the sound you get when you put the pedal to the floor is wicked!

The y-pipe was bent a little odd, so it made getting the right side some clearance from the bumper a pain. Right now it's very slowly eating away at the bumper.

Here's a before/after video of the exhaust system:

I'm going to wait until the tires start to wear out before I get new wheels. Until then I'll be finishing my under the hood mods and fixing up my suspension setup.

Re: '00 GT "White Lightning"

Looks like you like to blow money. You could nearly been finished with your under the hood mods with the money you wasted on the intake and exhaust.
