So, i did end up buying the 40th Anni hood out the local junkyard. It does make the car stand out a little, but for the wrong reasons.
Its still the purple color. Since im not in the mood of seeking out a body shop for a paint work estimate until i finish the turbo build.
i figure i could carbon fiber wrap it for the time being. For anybody that has done it, where did you purchase the CF roll and how much
did it cost ya. TIA.
 


I have not done this, but reflectiveconcepts.com sells carbon fiber wraps. The 14" by 5' is 60 bucks each. I haven't measured the hood dimensions but im guessing wit would cost you an upwards of 250-350 bucks atleast. Not only that, It would be a real paint to get the to follow the hood curves and line up without terrible overlap. Honestly if you are dead set on having a carbon hood, I would either spend the money on a real one or may I suggest a hydrographic. They are both probably really expensive. In my opinion your best bet is to wait until you are ready to paint it.
 
I've wrapped plenty of stuff before, but never a hood (though I have wrapped a few trunks)

Don't cheap out on it, get some quality 3M wrap. The largest width you can get is 5 feet in the Di-Noc. It stretches extremely easily and doesn't distort much if any (unless you really heat it up and pull hard)

Doing the hood would be plenty easy, as it has nice smooth lines. This would be MUCH easier with 2 people.

You can also get different color's and patterns if you want (solid colors, white/silver/red etc carbon fiber, snake-skin......) It looks really good if done well, and lasts extremely well. It also comes off clean with a little heat.

If you do end up wrapping it, make sure you get something that has air-channels, so that removing bubbles is 1000X easier.

yea those pieces came out really well. I'm new to all this and i found a 60x60 sheet im
guessing that should be enough for the hood. I just picked up a trunk lid from a similar
car in the yard yesterday so i may be doing the hood and trunk. I may just get the wrap
and wait till spring, because this winter has been crazy cold.
 
It really won't be that hard. I think a hood would be easy with two people. Just start in the middle work your way to the outside and use a heatgun to fix screwups.
 


I know everyone's gonna hate me but if you plastidip it...
1 you can recreate carbon fiber they have a video for it.
2 if you layer it on thick like 5 coats it peels right off and I do have experience with dip on a full car
 


You shouldn't want to change the color of your body panels when their the same color as the car though unless you just want to completely paint it.
