So I went to try and start my car and lights came on and everything, i go to turn the key to start it and all the light turn off as its supposed to and nothing happens. The car doesnt do anything. The bettery is not the problem i know for sure. I push the brake to try and put the car in neutral but it wont go in neural unless i did the shift lock and it still hwas hard to put in neutral. The car still didnt start. So i put it back in park and look at the gauges and it says the car is in drive. I did have to force it up to park. When i pressed the button on the shift lever as if u were going to put it in reverse from park it makes a clicking noise. I have no idea what might be the problem. Need help on what it might be, and how to check it.

Please help, my other car is going to blow up soon LOL, but seriously

Thanks

wow sounds alil serious...cant help much but I CAN say that ur car will not crank if its in Drive. So if its showing on the guage that its in D and u had to force it to Park, My guess is that it still isant in Park, still in Drive....i'd try to "force" it to neutral and see if the car will roll......
Hope that helps...maybe a good mechanic will see this post and give suggestions to fix...

Unless GPs are different from all other cars, it should start in Park and Neutral. That way if it dies for some stupid reason while you're cruising you can throw it in neutral and restart.

let me edit because i dont know for sure on this...i'd go try it on my car real quick but its raining...even that said, i'd still guess it was in drive

ok to begine with it wouldnt start while it was in park. I know it wont start while its in drive. After i was messing with it and put it back in park the gauge on the dash said it was in drive. it obviously wasnt cuz its it park. And the car would move as if it was in neutral.

Your cable linkage needs to be adjusted. The shifter is in Park, but most likely the transmission end is in Reverse. The car will move while in Reverse. This would also prevent it from starting...

I had a similar problem for awhile. It turned out to be a bad shifter cable. The shifter cable, which runs from the shifter in the console, through the firewall, and to the transmission, was binding up inside. I could force the shifter (very hard) into drive. But when I would force it back into park, it would throw off the gear indicator. Then when I went to start next time, it would think it was in R, but was really in Park. I replaced the shifter cable and readjusted the linkage and it has been fine ever since.

i took it to a shop and they siad it had to do something with the tranny. The linkage from the tranny is really stiff. Which i think caused my cable to break or not work as it should. What would cause the tranny linkage to be so stiff??
