97 GTP - i just got back from over seas and when i got back my car wont start. my wife said the battery was dead when she went to get it. they jumped it and it was fine. then the next day when she turned the key it just clicked 2 or 3 times than started so it sounded like a starter. i replace the starter and that was not the problem. when you turn on the key i have all dash lights and widows work and locks, everything. it has a new starter now. but the car will not turn over at all.... now my wife has a friend who husband knew how to start it by doing something to the starter with a screwdriver and the car started and ran just fine but it seems like there's no power from the key to the starter. would this be the ignition switch wire harness?......i know my blower only works on the highest setting an i was told that the ignition switch is what had to be replaced so could the same thing be the cause of the current issue

fan blower working on setting 5 usually is the fan resistor. its located by the fan under the pass side dash.

your friend jumped the starter solenoid to get the starter to work, so im thinking you have a bad battery cable, bad ground or dirty battery terminals. <<<this usually cause just a click and then dead/ no dash power or nothing until you turn the key back to off.

after checking/cleaning the cables. next step could be the ignition switch, but im really leaning to towards the cables being bad, especially if its been sitting a long time.

and thanks for your service.

Fan only working on highest setting is almost always the ignition switch.
I'm going with your second inclination.

OP...I would also like to give thanks.

i got it working and it fix the a/c issues and the dic cutting out when a/c was turned on... it was the ignition switch. thanks for the help
