Car will not start but is cranking

So I replaced my starter and battery recently and cannot get the car to turn over. The car has been sitting for about 2 months. When I turn the key, you can hear it wanting to connect but it doesnt not happen. One thing I found really odd is a thin white smoke coming out of the engine when its cranking. Help!

Sounds like you may have put some wires on wrong or have something of that nature.

White smoke is likey the wires starting to smoke, I would find out where its coming from and fix the issue.

You say it's cranking and won't connect and ....huh?

Cranking is the engine spinning as you try to start it.
Thin white smoke is bad. Find the hot wire and fix it. Likely you have something wrong at the starter.

This car is giving me a headache(wont start)

Alright, car has been out of commission for two months, mostly due to not having funds to fix it. When the car originally died, I was driving home and it stalled 3 times before it would not start. So since it initially dying, I have changed all the spark plugs, a coil pack(auto zone ran the codes and it pulled a cylinder 3 misfire as well as a bad MAF), spark plug wires, starter, battery and today installed a new MAF. So I went on to crank the car today and got it started for a few seconds before it died. It was very shaky and the needle on the RPM gauge went up to about 3,000 before it dropped back down to zero and died. I was able to crank it again and got a repeat performance. So by the third time, the car would not catch, so I waited for about a half hour and tried again, which I repeated in about 30-45 minute intervals and no start.

So that leaves me at, what does everyone think it could be?

Car is a 2000 Grand Prix with 178,000 miles on it.

Going up to 3,000 rpm's tells me you eiher have a vacuum leak, had your foot heavily on the throttle or the IAC is wide open....then there's one last thing. Do you have fuel?

So I had to jump my car with my girlfriends car in order for it to turn over. It ran rough while it was running. While it was running, a white smoke was coming from the passenger side of the engine bay. Any suggestions? I was reading into seafoam, what do I need to know about going that route? Or would it be a bad idea all together?

what did the smoke smell like, burning wires or rubber, the battery's on the pass side, and so are the belts, if a pulley sized up the belt could smoke.

did it stall out again or did you shut it off due to the smoke?

forget seafoam, the car needs to run to use it properly.
