• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

Car Turns Over - No Ignition

Has to be. Since you have fuel and oxygen yet no spark. Those 3 elements make combustion. Spark, fuel, oxygen. Oxygen is abundant, do the plugs smell like fuel? Or damp with fuel?

You said you see no spark so I would say start there.
If ground is fine, I suppose it could be a security thing. I have heard of security issues stopping spark, or stopping fuel. So I'm not sure on that

This is where the ICM should be grounded

I have not taken it to Autozone to have it tested, I didn't know that could do that. How much do you have to unplug from the car to get the ICM off?

I'm going to reground the wire tomorrow after work. I'll see if I can get it to work there. If I remember right it didn't fit over that bolt...

Since you swapped the engine. Did you swap the harness from the ICM to crank and cam sensors? If so, check those connections. Also check that the wiring didn't get yanked into the AC clutch etc. Seems this happens to some people. Also pull the plugs. By now they should be drenched and wet plugs don't like to fire. Dry them up and toss back in.

It was the damn crank sensor plug. I didn't even think to check that because I never would have guessed that would be directly involved with spark. Thank you everyone!

your getting there, nice find.

surging is a vac leak 99% of the time. make sure all the T's are tight the evap line off the tb is solid.

get some cheap carb cleaner, spray all the vac lines, car at idle, if the idle jumps up you found the leak area.

Tune or maf typically. When was the last time you cleaned the maf and TB?

I'll toss out one liners, that seems to be working here!

I have checked every vacuum line I could find. Replaced them all. The only one I didn't see was one that goes to some sort of canister? I saw it on a diagram online, but I didn't see it on my car - maybe I just missed it.

I cleaned the MAF when I was putting the car back together.

I don't know if this helps or not, but if you lightly hold your foot on the gas, there is no fluctuation whatsoever. But as soon as you let go it resumes trying to die. My gas pedal also seems incredibly easy to depress compared to other GP's I have driven.

Does any of that info help at all?

Unplug your maf and start the car. Likely you'll need to hold the throttle for a min or so to let it learn where it needs to idle. Once that's done.. does it still stall?

at idle does it sound like its got a huge ass cam, surging 500 rpm's give or take?

evap goes to the back of the car to the evap canister, see the diagram posted. only the line dont run back under the TB, it sticks near the fire wall.

I'll try the MAF thing again when I get home in a few minutes.

Yes, that's the diagram.

Where is the EVAP canister actually located, and what does it do?

It sounds like more than a huge ass cam, it varies by about 1000 RPM. And I had someone sit there with the pedal held slightly in, and after a while it started surging again, trying to die.

the canister is in the d/s quarter panel under the gas door.

id spray to check for leaks. when my evap line off the tb cracked it would surge like mad at idle, ran fine driving.

Alright, something came up tonight, I'm going to try those few things you guys mentioned and update the thread tomorrow afternoon.

Alright, this car is quite puzzling to say the least.

I unplugged the MAF - it ran a bit better, it still surged between about 500 and 1500 RPM, but it wouldn't die anymore.

Then my neighbor came over and unplugged the vacuum lines leading to the supercharger actuator thing, and it ran much better. It almost evened out, only surging occasionally.

Could this be a multilevel problem?

Also, I took my supercharger belt off, because I believe I am low on fluid, and it was just leaking out the nose when I went out there now... Is there a seal of some sort in there that I don't have?
