I have a 94 gp 3100 and for the past couple months it has been running bad. Some times when i start my car it starts up and just dies, and when i try to start it up again i have to give it gas and hold the rpms around 2k for a few min before i can just let it idle alone. It also happens when im stoped at a red light i have to hold down the gas peddle to keep it from dying. I thought it may have been the alternater (at night i noticed my lights dimming in and out like they werent getting the right amount of power) but it seems to be fine. Any advise is welcome. Your lights dimming might be result of low idle.

There are a million things this could be....you're going to have to provide more information and do more detective work.

Start with the basics:

1) Pull and inspect the plugs
2) Check the air filter and fuel filter
3) Check the throttle body for large amounts of carbon buildup
4) Check for other rudimentary problems (broken vacuum lines, broken wires, leaking fluids etc)
 
Car has new air filter, new plugs and wires, throttle body is clean, all vacuum lines have been replaced. The only thing that leaks is oil as does every other 3100 engine. The fuel filter was changed 2 years ago, how ofter should that be done?
Iv been told it could be the egr valve going out or one of the many sensors on the engine.
