Car Stalls, Will Not Start.

Hello Everyone!

I've been having issues with my 08' Grand Prix. I've got the 3800 Series III V6 that comes with the vehicle, but have the GT sports package, Dual exaust, steering controls, etc. I'm not sure what difference that makes on the engine components if any. Anyway, I've been having issues with stalling for about a year. The car always starts up fine, but then on a second hot start, it would sometimes crank, then die instantly. I would then start it again and it would be fine. Tonight, I started the car, let it run for about a minute, and just before I shifted gears, it stalled. I havn't been able to start it since. It's got a brand new battery, and the starter seems to be trying to turn. The fuel pump seems to engage when I turn the key into the on position. Does anyone have any suggestions on what could be causing this?
 


That did it. Gave myself a nasty cut in the process on the harness, but I got her. It started. Didn't run the greatest, but it started. I guess clean the sensor? Or just replace it?
 
You can try cleaning it, but it might just fail again right away. Most of the time buying a new one with a warranty is the answer.

While your at it, it would be a good time to clean the throttle body aswell.
 
So This morning I went to start the car, MAF still disconnected, and it won't start. Either with it connected or disconnected. I took the MAF sensor and the Throttle Body out, cleaned them both, The Throttle Body was completely disgusting. Put it all back together, and I still can't get it to start. It seemed on the inside of the Throttle Body that there was what looked like unburnt fuel, so I'm thinking that the problem with the car can't be fuel related. I am running out of ideas though.
 


I just had this same issue, can you pull one of the front plugs and look and see if its black and gas smelling. It may be a fuel pressure regulator gone bad.

when mine did this I had to replaced the maf, throttle position sensor, and fuel pressure regulator. running like a champ now.
 
New Update.

I gave up and had it towed to my mechanic because it was becoming a bit of a headache. After I dropped it off though, I noticed that my bottom Ignition coil was cracked and melted. When I had the hood up I never even thought to look at that. So he's going to take a look in the morning, but I'm wondering now if that would've been the root of my problem from the beginning? Or is that is just a side effect of continuously trying to start the engine? Perhaps one of you has experience with a failed coil and the effects of it in this car?
