Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

Car sputtered, shook then died!

After $1100 in repairs just a week and a half ago, yesterday on my way to work my check engine light started blinking while on the expressway. I made my way to the side as the car sputtered, the front end started and shaking and the car just wouldn't go. At first I was afraid I ran out of gas, but the car was still running just wouldn't move and the engine light was blinking. Anyone have any ideas on this??? I had it towed to the place I had it fixed but he won't be able to get to it until Monday morning. I just wanted to see if I could get some insight in the meantime.

Now I drove around for nearly a year with my check engine light on and now after I take it in to get this issue resolved the car just dies! :th_angry2: I had a coolant leak fixed, new front struts and baring plates and something to do with the engine light (of course I can't remember at this moment) and now here I am with a dead car. I am soooo afraid the engine is burnt up! I can't afford a new engine. Anyway, just a little rant. Please chime in with any thoughts! I have always kept my car up well, oil changes always on time!

Flashing CEL indicates an active misfire on one or more cylinders. Need to have it scanned at an Autozone or someplace and see which cylinder(s) it is. I'd be willing to be you need new plugs and wires.

mine started doing that a couple weeks ago, had it scanned came back with p0102 maf or map, and random misfires. i replaced the maf and it runs ok to drive around town but my mpg's are garbage still and i cant get on it more then 40% throttle or starts to sputter and the missfires are gone, so im thinking map sensor

I would try new plugs and wires nikki, see where that gets you. My car had a misfire and it was sputtering terribly..

Get it scanned for sure, don't let the mechanic jyp you for money.

Oh and come back on here with the code.

had this happoen on my 2000 GTX. Mechanic said MAF sensor. Ater putting five different on ended up replacing TB and it came with all new sensors. No more problem.

Yea what ever this is, the car wouldn't drive any further than where I could manage to pull over safely. Its convenient that after driving for nearly a year with the engine light on that right after he fixes it, the car has trouble. Hmmm???
