car running unusually cool

he is simply telling you that you need to re-read all the comment on here to get the full picture. you car wants to run at about 198˚F for the best mpg and best preformance so running a "colder" t-stat does nothing for you IF your stock. do we need to hit you over the head with a baseball bat or what

nope I'm done... read it... not stock.... next time I'll keep my mouth shut... just wanted to learn from what you guys have experienced instead of what people think happens. instead we argued. I had a valid point the difference between economy and efficiency.. sorry to get everyone butthurt

i wanted to apologize about my ranting last night I believe I didn't explain my point very well hope there's no hard feelings

Not to mention a 180 degree t-stat doesn't make any sense without a tune. Our fans don't come on until somewhere above 200 degrees, so when you're moving you'll get cooler temps, but sitting in traffic (where most cars get hottest) you have no airflow until those fans come on. And being that they're meant to turn on to be effective with a 195 degree t-stat, your 180 doesn't give you any benefit there.

Car has a bunch of mods and IS tuned.

I was having the same problem with the temp showing low and kept getting code saying that its not reaching operating temp in time. Replaced tstat and good as new, haven't had an issue yet

Yeah P0128 is basically a "you have a bad thermostat" code. It serves as a "160° thermostat is too cold" code as well. It has no problems with my normally functioning 180°. His must have been having problems. And this thread has veered a bit off topic, any updates?

"Running cool" sounds kind of weird... do you have any indication other than the eng temp guage? I'm asking because I'm having problems with the coollant temp on a 2004 GPgt. I replaced the temp sensor and it seems to have failed about 6-months ago, then again just recently. It keeps setting a "low voltage" temp sensor code. I found the specs on the sensor and when I put fixed resistance in place of the sensor, the guage reads the appropriate temperatureS. Now, with ANOTHER sensor having failed, seems the engine doesn't want to "warm" up.

Anyone have any experience with the temperature guage/sensor/ECM system?
