Car Randomly shuts off while driving

I have a 2000 gtp with 116k on it and just recent I have been problems with it shutting off while im on the highway. The rpms would shoot up to about 3000 then down to 0 and shut off. After about 5-10mins I was able to turn it back on and drive it home. I noticed I had a cracked vacuum line that i temporally taped till I was able to get it replaced. I brought it into the shop the next day and they checked it out, They found out that my wire harness had started to melt on my exhaust manifolds. So 450 bucks later they fixed the harness and vacuum line. Seemed like it drove a lot better but omw home on the highway it shut off on me again except there was no sputtering just completely shut off and lost all power but was able to start it up once I got to the shoulder. Im gonna take it back tomorrow but any ideas on what it could be? Thanks in advance!

I just corrected that kind of issue on my fiance's 99gtp. Hers would shut down at weird times and without warning. Replaced the ICM, cam sensor, ICM harness, and then when I got to the crank sensor it smelled faintly of burnt electronics so I figured that was it. Today was day 1 with no issues. Gonna drive it for a week and see if its good to go before I give it back to her. So I'd swap the crank sensor first if I were you.

I had an ICM go on my bonne' twice in the 200,000 I've had it; much easier to get to than the crank sensor, but all of those things will cause random shutting off.

I had already swapped the ICM from a 35k L26 I threw in my race car and it still died off and on. Day two and no issues. Gonna drive it to work until Sunday and then declare it fixed

Well looks like the shop just decided they would replace the crank shaft sensor and not even bother to tell me that they were gonna do that so now I gotta pay for it when i coulda done it myself :th_shakinghead2:
