Car not turning over...

I finally got the SS back together from the re-build, now it wont turn over. I've got every wire connected, all grounds in place just wont't hit a lick. I have a diagnostic scan tool, (Auto X-ray), but it is not responding to the vehicle. All the gauges, radio, lights work fine, but when I try to crank it, everything turns off. Then a few moment s later it all comes back on. I've already replaced the ignition switch cylinder and ignition module hoping that might be it, but no such luck. My last 2 ideas are either the PCM or BCM.....:th_lipssealed2: Just seeing if there might be anything else before I have it towed to the "Stealership". Any help would be great!

And what did this rebuild consist of? What have you changed since it ran last?

Putting a piston back in that had MAJOR detonation issues (i.e ripped half the skirt off the piston and chipped the top of the piston). Other than the new piston, rings, all new gaskets and new plugs, just a new ignition cylinder switch and a new ignition module.

Does it just click and then nothing?

I'd say triple check the order of the grounds on the starter and transmission.

Nothing clicks, everything turns off and then comes back on a few seconds later......maybe have to re-check grounds under the car.

This sounds like a loose battery connection or loose cable. My 00 GT did exactly this when the neg. side was just the slightest bit loose.

I checked all grounds this morning and did notice the neg. terminal was stripped, so I replace it. Didn't change anything:th_confused:

At the starter there's the cable plus two wires that share one grommet that are hooked to the post with teh 13mm nut. The grounds are one battery cable and two individual grommeted wires that get held to the transmission bolt.

It sounds like you have one or so missing. Not that I'd know from experience. :th_lipssealed2:

I can bump the starter by crossing over with a screw driver, it spins, but wont crank.
If it just spins the starter then you are not completely crossing it over. It sounds when you are crossing it over the bendix is not popping out to engage the flexplate.

could be a bad starter solenoid. thats what makes the gear pop out and engage the fly wheel.

and in a lot of cars if the starters not hooked up, nothing lights up, and all the wires go to the solenoid on the starter.
