Car has shudder or binding feeling....

My wife`s `07 GXP shudders or binds up when accelerating from a stop only. It feels like something is binding up real bad. We thought it was the front calipers seizing up, so I replaced them and also installed new brake pads. Problem still exists. Also the shaking/binding does not happen in low gear, just in drive. So, I guess I can rule out the drive shaft`s U-joints.
Anyone ever experience this problem or know what it could be?

Wait, so if you put the gear selector in 1'st and take off from a stop, it will not do it? But in Drive it will? That may indicate like a computer problem activating second gear or something while taking off, and it cant when you put it in 1st because you're not allowing it.

Wonder if that is that is sign that the trans is slipping. Have you checked the fluid? Is it full? Nice and red or brown/black?

Is the CEL on?

Guys, the A/T fluid has been changed last summer and the fluid level is good and has no discolor or bad odor. The check engine light is not on and no codes are stored in the ECM.
02NavyBlue, do you mean that the transmission may need to be re-programmed?
I was thinking there might be something wrong with the clutch plates.

Well if what I asked was true, the PCM decides shift points; and if a control input is changing whether or not the issue happens, it may be in the control side.

Looks like this is probably an issue that a tranny tech will have to diagnose. I hope it is just a minor issue and not a re-build.

This may sound stupid but my 01 gtp did the same exact thing , it would shudder like crazy until I got into second gear . I thought I was loosing my tranny , it ended up being bad wheel bearings. Take it for what it is , but I had the car up in the air and checked them and they had no play but when I took them off they were damn near seized up . Replaced them and the shutter went away . Just a thought.

Car kinda has this shutter, which is very prominant around 40 MPG, but will smooth out if I press on the accelerator. siezing wheel bearings seems very plausible. does anyone else think the wheel bearings could be my problem?

I suppose it's possible. My cousin's wheel bearings got so bad they slowed the car down at all speeds. It felt like the brake was slightly applied.
