so i have a 98 gtp now. and i like it, but eventually im gona want something a bit newer. ive been casually researching some cars to get an idea of what i want. the g35 is pretty nice, but its rear wheel drive, which is kind of a deal breaker since our winters experience heavy snow. then i realized i rather like the newest grand prixs. so im really thinking like an 07 GT would be perfect for me

my question is how are these cars? any catastrophic problems or failure points that would deter someone from buying the car? id like the whole perspective. thanks

Why scared of rear wheel drive? Just get a spare set of wheels for it and have snow tires mounted to them and swap them out for the winter months. Then keep the current GTP for the winter and have the g35 for the nicer weather.

How are which cars? 07 GTs or the G35s?

Grand prixs 97-08 all suffer from mostly the same problems, hubs, trannies, grounding issues, etc...

A lot of grand prix problems got fixed from 97-mid 05.
Things like:
Transmission pcs
Transmission 4th clutch hub
LIM gaskets
Metal UIM (no egr issues melting the uim)
Rust is much less of a problem

wow, ok. so no one has anything to say about the last gen grand prixs on a grand prix forum?

Threads get bumped back and no one see's them, it happens alot.

04-08 cars are fine, most don't see many issues but there are always the common things like water pumps/wheel bearings/tie rod ends/spark plugs/coolant flushes etc etc.

The 04-05 model see more problems with intake gaskets are its still a plastic design.

06-08 wont see that issue because of the upgraded gaskets. The transmission in the same aswell depending on model and they all can see the same problems, many install coolers to help keep temps down and make them last longer. Shift kits are also nice things to add.
