Can't remove key or shift from park

Greetings,
2002 GTP 177,000 miles. Last week I replaced the ignition switch (harness). The third one in this car I bought new.
Last night, the wife went to the store and when she tried to leave, the car would not shift out of park and when she turned it off, the key would not come out. I was able to release the key by manually releasing the solenoid by the ignition switch but every time I would start the car, it still wouldn't shift from park or release the key.
Could the harness cause both these issues? Where do I start looking?
Thanks in advance.

Thanks Chrisatpsu,
Just got the car in the garage and noticed the shift indicator on the dash is not working either.
Still won't release the key or shift from park unless I release them manually. I'm going to replace the harness with the old one to see if that is the issue especially with the indicator not working and I'll check that brake switch while I'm in there.
Thanks for the reply.
I'll definitly post the solution when I get it.

Thanks for all the replies. I pulled the covers off of the steering column and noticed that the wires leading to the solenoid that releases the key were really tight. My strain relief probably moved. Anyway, I reseated the connector and everthing started working fine. Several miles of driving revealed no other issues.
I reworked the strain relief and will drive it a few days with the covers off. If it acts up again, the ignition harness I just replaced is probably flakey.
Once again, the replies are much appreciated. This forum is awesome !!

I ended up replacing the ignition harness again which has solved the can't remove key or shift from park issue but now when you turn the key off, if you open the door, the "dinger" is not working. It comes on if you move the ignition switch just a bit to on or access. but won't come on in the off position with the door open.
Is it possible to get the key cylinder out of position a bit on reinstall to cause this? Could this be another ignition harness issue? Everything else is working fine.
Thanks again.
