Can You Estimate My 1/4 now?

Hey guys i ve had my gtp 4 about 2 yrs now , please read my mods and tell me what u think my car is capable of at the track!! btw i have 4 seasons performance perille tires on the front...:D just in case it doesnt show i also have 3" stight pipe w no cat, and flowmasters exhaust

3.25 pully, k&n intake, zzp pcm, zzp high veloctiy bored TB, TB spacer, 3" dp, 3"stight pipe w/no cat, flow masters exhaust, NGK tr6 racing iridium colder range plugs, msd coil blasters, voltage booster, engine cover removed, hood heat sheld removed, weather stiping removed along back of hood (all in attempt to remove any knock i'm experecing) oh yea and soon to be alchol water injected.

Well its tough to say, first you don't have the mods to run a 3.25 pulley. You need either an IC, a cam, or rockers on pump gas to run knock free, plus I don't see either a Plog or some type of header to help with the exhaust flow. Which brings us too have you done any tuning to the car, or is the pcm, have the tune you were sent? That being said if you had a perfect tune running Knock free. I say 13.8-13.9.

well thats why i m bout to run the alcohol water kit to act as a "chemical intercooler" as it has been said, idk how fimilar u are with it but it makes my octane rating go up to around 112 while droping the intake temps by about 70 degrees, so that should get ride of any knock, and no i havent tuned it other then the tuned pcm, how do u tune it?

Just my 2 cents...
But i think you should be getting some headers, PEMS,
and you need to have the DHP tuned for the Ported TB you now have on there...
The ZZP DHP will allow you to run a 3.4 but do believe you must retune
that if going smaller Pully size.
Has anyone played with the timming on the car?
I'm just learning myself about this and i could be wrong and probly am :D
But i would not be taking that to the track or woot runs without any suporting mods...
Will watch this and learn as well...

By the way your PCM should be tuned for the mods you have in your car...

ZZP is a tuned PCM to run 3.4 pully, FWI, CAI, colder plugs, 180 - 160 T-Stat Factory tuned

I understand what you are trying to do, but saying it will get rid of knock, and what your operating at right now are totally different things. The 3.25 pulley with the mods you have right now is a good way to blow your engine up. It is possible that you might have no Knock with a 3.4 pulley on there, but I doubt it. The upgraded pcm is a good start, but thats all it is, a good start. Every car reacts diferent to modifications. The initial tuning in your pcm is programmed for the masses not the individual. You need to get with a local club, and see if anyone has a tuner that can assist you. They can use that to plug in, scan the car, and see how it is reacting to the current mods you have, read the knock, and make adjustments as necessary to rectify that. My .02 though is to take off the 3.25 pulley, put on a 3.4, get some headers, and start tuning for that. Once you get it tuned for the 3.4, add your kit, retune on the 3.4. Then depending on knock, timing, trims, etc etc. Look at the 3.25.

so have u heard of this type of injection? the fact that my octane rating will rate around 112 alone should be enough to deminsh the knock? right that's like runining high octane race gas everytime i boost. not to metion the the drop in intake air temps by 70 degress is like adding a short stack intercooler also probly enough to remove the knock on it's own. apperently this 'chemical intercooler' is good for 20 psi of boost, of corse suporting transmission mods, fuel injectors ect. would then be nessary...

yes almost all of us have heard of alky injection

The general feeling about alky is that it works for the turbo GN guys.

However, in our situation the results have not been there. For the few that have tried it in detail have had to spend a lot a lot of tuning time. And then after a lot alot of tuning have had decent success but some have not.

It appears that you do not have a tuner PT or HP tuners will be the best way to maximize the benefits of the alky.

If i were you i would get that 3.25 off there as quick as possible.

Pick up a scanner (aeroforce scan gauge works great, or ls1m or autotap, or list goes on and on)
or
Pick up a tuner which can both make changes to pcm and scan

Spend some time just seeing how your car reacts to the mods you have. All cars are different. Some cars can run the 3.4 knock free without headers but i would venture a guess that MOST cannot!

Once you are knock free then youthink about more mods.

Sorry for my rambling

^^ X2 with Jash,
I am running a 3.4 with no KR but still am putting on SLP Headers...
what goes in must come out..
I have a AutoTap scanner it only reads the PCM.
But it tells you alot of what your motor is doing.
You should find someone that is close to you that has one and see if they
would be willing to leand you a hand...
Good luck with your mods
And once this is worked out have fun at the track.

I have to agree with the group, BLACKEDOUT. It took a lot of work and tuning before I was able to run the 3.25" safely.

DuBob has done all of my tuning and my major modifications (cam, headers, exhaust, etc) I strongly suggest looking around for a local club and/or someone with a tuner. The way your car is set up right now, it'd probably run better with the 3.4".

Your getting tons of knock right now. Just putting in alky injection, depending on what kit you get (some run off of windshield washer fluid) will not get you up to 110 octane, like they said, everyone whose had one, had to tune for it, THEN you might see gains. Even after you tune for this you won't be gaining much since you don't have any headers or done anything with your very restrictive front exhaust manifolds. Running one jet of water through your throttle body/spacer will not drop the temps by 70 degrees, then after this you have the supercharger which makes the most heat warming it back up.

The most effective way I've seen is to put the jet in the intake manifold, which requires some tedious work.

You have to start with the basic mods and work yourself up, just slapping on water injection will not help you much, plus what happens if it fails or runs out?

Sorry if it sounds like I was being a dick, but your car should not have a 3.25 on it without a tuned pcm/headers/cam/intercooler, it will blow your engine.

Talk to fst and DuBob on here. They're both from PA but fst has an alky set up on his GTP and DuBob is Lord of the 3800. They'll be able to give you some great advise for your set up alone with nozzle position, etc.
