Hey there guys I have a 98 gt with 18" eagle alloys but I am in need of new tires. I was able to get a really good deal on some kumhos 225/40/18 and I went to discount tire to get them mounted and they refused..... any ideas?

i hate when tire shops wont mount tires. but anyways, the ideal size for 18s would be a 245/45/18. a 225/40 will be alittle stretched looking and be alot smaller of a sidewall.

are the tires you got used or new?

A 225/45 would be better, the 40s are just way to short.

Tire size calculator
Compare stock 225/60/16s to your 225/40/18s

Your 1.5" shorter diameter than stock, makes it 5.8% too fast, almost 4 mph slower at 60.
Not to mention the awesome wheel gap you will achieve with the "low-pro" wheels, you would get a 3/4" drop overall, but gain 3/4" wheel gap to boot, unless your lowered. If you just bought them, I would try to trade them for a 225/45 at least.

Most people with 18s run 245/45/18s

sell the tires and buy properly sized tires. its gonna look stupid with that size anyways.
