Can I put a 225/55/16 on my car

I was looking to get the continental pure contact or extreme contact tire. Only way would be to get a 55 series tire. I know the speedometer would be different, but would it still be ok to do so?
 


Also when I put the GTP rims on for winter with the 225s , the car tires look like skinny balloons

That's with the rear raised , pic was taken to show the intrigue lowering springs raising the rear for a raked look
