Can i beat a SI?

yea i think it makes the gtp look even worse. 2.0 NA four banger vs 3.8 SUPERCHARGED V6. the honda has 100+ less TQ. has worse power to weight ration. the OP said he quickly put a car and a half on him. the honda stoped his pull and by 70 was on his bumper. 70 mph is not even an 1/8 mile for my car stock (74 on a 14.7 pass) with still half a track left and the honda pulling back, by 90-95 they problew would have been even. should be a 1/4 mile then. they both had pretty much the same mods. EXCEPT ONE WAS A 4 CYLENDER AND THE OTHER WAS A SUPERCHARGED V6. and it pretty much just as fast as the gtp in the 1/4. yes the gtp will take off faster but its not about who takes off faster its about who gets to the finsh line first. so for all of those calling the SI slow, you are pretty much calling the gtp slow. am i the only one that is seeing this?? or are yall just feeling down and hating on HONDA??

wow its ok i laugh at these ion redlines to, i mean i have not raced one yet but i cant even take them seriously its a Saturn a sky i could possibly see but not the other ones but if one does come my way and beats me i will give it its respect

i mean gtp's are quick but people act like theyre the fastest things on the streets.i was talkin bout my experience with a civic si,i wasnt impressed,maybe i expected more out of it because of the many people who buy em and mod em.i thought maybe its more to it than people think,i was wrong .i thought it was boring.just my opinion ,it aint that serious .but like with any car put enough money into it ,it can be fast. checkout this vid on youtube called jdm ek vs domestics.civic goin around whoopin svt cobras,c5s,evo 8,and then runs into a 1000hp camaro tt! cool vid.thats a civic i can respect. and as far as me being a civic hater...i wouldn't consider myself one cuz i think the s2000 is pretty cool.

So your saying that your grand prix is more fun to drive than a civic si?
Also you are saying that a si is more of an "old lady" car than your Pontiac?

No ****...When my 98 F-150 can walk them...there is really no point in getting one, except to save some money in gas. I always have honda guys coming up to me and saying..." that a GTP? I could take you" I just laugh and ask if they got any cash, cuz it's always the same car, different dude. Some CRX, or hatch, or SI thinking his itty turbo, or cold air makes torque. I understand the point of respect a car for what it is...I just don't see em except on tv, or at car shows and those are just trailer queens. Everywhere I've lived it's a million honda's and nothing to brag about. They just think cuz one guy made it happen with 20,000 bucks on a movie, that it's really easy for them on their 7.50 an hour pay check to do the same. And then I just smoke em with my 6,500 lb truck on 33" tires...HAHA:th_tongue2:

First I am going to call you out and say that your "bad ass" f-150 would be no where near a stock civic si . Yes Honda's have gotten a bad rep. but that is not Honda's fault it is the idiot people that mod them un-tastefully. Honda's are one of the most fun cars I have driven on the track. And no not the drag strip.. What fun is it to push the gas and see who has the most money to put under the hood. Take your grand prix out on a real race track against any generation civic si and beat it with a video to post on here afterwards then you have something to brag about. If you are feeling really ballsy we can get into the s2000...

Here are some specs I found on other sites such as wilkipedia and car and driver:

06 Civic Si tested price $23,240; 0-60 6.7 sec.; 197hp @7800rpm, 139lbft @6200rpm and a HP to weight of 14.7 lbs/hp and 20.5 lbs/lbft

04 Grand Prix GTP tested price $22,395; 0-60 6.6 sec.; 260hp@5200rpm, 280lbft@3600rpm and a HP to weight of 13.7 lbs/hp and 12.7 lbs/lbft

Added: These are a list of cars the 04 GTP was faster than even if it was a fraction of a sec.: BMW 325i, Volvo s60, Acura TSX, and Audi A4

Couldn't find good 1/4 mile times, but from the street I can say they are a several car lengths in the rear of my 2002 and all specs here are from the 2004+ model. Hope this gives some evidence and peace of mind for some.

How do you figure the civic is any slower than the grand prix.. It's .1 seconds slower to 60mph with 141 ft/lbs less... I would say Honda is doing something right.. It's about power to weight ratio numbers you have to look at..


No one ever said that a supercharged 6 cyl was slower than a 4 cyl. What they did say was you guys need to get off your high horse an realize that you do not own the fastest cars in the world.. You would think by these post that Pontiac is the new Ferrari.. It would be expected that the Pontiac would win in a drag race but who really cares about that? I am by no means a Honda fan boy. In fact I have never and prob will never own one. I do though give any car credit where they deserve it. You are comparing a completely different market in the two cars... Maybe one day you will learn to respect all cars that are modded correctly and not just the car you own.

And to the guy that said Pontiac is built better than Honda. I think we all know the superior quality Honda has in making reliable long lasting cars...

thats cool, and well i was just saying the SI was right there with the grand prix, so everybody calling the SI slow, are you willing to call the GTP slow???? problew not so there just being hypocrites
