can a forward servo be changed out without taking the trans out?

I think I want to try changing out a forward servo in an attempt to stop my slip/ bang. Can it be swapped out without taking the trans out?
 


why would you have to take off the side cover and valve body? The servo is all accessible from the outside. Whether there's room to get to it in the car, I have no idea.
