Camshaft Sproket Bolt Removal?HELP PLZ!

Bulletproof Gtp

:th_angry2: I am using standard 1 1/8" socket with 1/2" breaker bar to take off my Cam Sproket Bolt, its giving me a hard time. I don't have any tool to hold the sproket in place to undo the bolt from the cam sproket. Neither I have an Impact Gun. I need suggestion please? I tried to hold the Crank shaft with the harmonic balancer bolt but it didn't work!. I tried putting the car in gear 1 also didn't work! Its driving me crazy and I am about to pull my hairs out:th_angry2:! I can't afford to tow the car and take it to the Mechanic he wants almost $1000 to repair it:th_mechanic:. I can do my own repair I am replacing the whole timing chain set. My vehicle is 97 grand prix GTP.

Well there are small triangle shape hole, but not deep enough for me to hold screw driver, beside surely screw driver going to break, cos I need to apply too much torque onto cam bolt in order for me to unbolt it. I just bought camshaft holding tool from princess auto, let see if its going to work. I am sure its gonna break that tool. Any other suggestion please? whilst I try taking the bolt off with camshaft holding tool.

I put vise grips on the flex plate. They have to be super tight, I had to use another pair of pliers to close the vise grips. Be careful not to damage the teeth on the flex.

There's only one flex plate and you only need one pair of grips as you'll only be turning that bolt one way. :th_thumbsup-wink:
