CAMS for the LS4

So Next month my plans are to finally do the exhaust, Decided im keeping it 2 1/2 inch all the way back, puttin on some flowmaster super 44's and resonator removal. Ordering a predator diablo sport programmer and probably doing a little cosmetic work as well. My question is are there cams out for the LS4? I have been searching and not coming up with much. Any input on my plans for next month are appreciated as well.

Honestly id avoid the Diablo. Its fine and all but doesn't offer trans support. And Kinda crappy customer service. One GXP owner has both the Diablo and the new superchips programer. His plan was to compare both once diablo got all there updates. Well i think its been close to a year and he has given up and selling it because of lack of suport and crappy customer support. As far as cams. Yes and no. Most any cam for a LSX will work. But if your keeping DOD you cant go to big with the cam. There have been a couple guys swap cams. However they have ran into some issues. One of them is if the cam moves the power band higher, then while racing when you shift 1-2 you could possible be completely out of the Power band. There are some other things that if u really want to go ahead with the swap ill get the info straight and get it for you.

Thanks for the info on the diablo sport! My friend with a SRT8 has one and talked it up good, I did see the super chips programmer, same price really. I think mainly i want to see what kind of high octane tunes each has, I will check out the superchips programmer more. I used HP Tuners on my old cobalt ss, Liked that program but i want something easier. Looking to get the most power i can out of one if im spending close to 400 bucks.

hey no problem. If u found a diablo cheap enough, i havent herd anything actually bad about the tune itself. Just when buying brand new way better options out there.

Yeah, and im big on support so superchips may wind up being the better of the 2. Wanna get rims next tax return :) so thats the 2nd move once the motor is all set. Rims are a bit hard to find as well when im shoppin around. Wheelsnext.com has good selections.

Not to knock the handheld tuners...but why not drop the extra money and get a HP Tuners...if they are applicable on the LS4 powered cars...just seems like you would get way more accurate readings and a WAY better tune...plus you can tune the transmission and everything else...

If i knew how to use HP i would buy it. I made the mistake of having someone that "knew" what they were doing with HP tuners on my SS cobalt. pistons 1 + 4 were then destroyed lol. Tuning the Trans is something i want on the programmer, still lookin at superchips tho to see if they support trans.

Also random question, Will a resonator removal thow any codes? Never had that happen on any other cars but figured i would ask. This way I should get my tuner first then do exhaust to delete the code completely from the PCM.

I have not herd of resonator removal throwing any codes. it shouldn't since there not any sensors after the Res. But anymore better safe asking then assuming.

Just a quick thought, on my old 300c I had the Superchips, sold it, and went with the Diablo. The Diablo blew the superchips out of the water.

Diablo isnt crap just they dont care much about the LS4 powered cars. We are to small of a market for them TO Care about. I am personally HP tuned, by a local tuner.

I love my HPT. It's not all that hard to learn. There is plenty of information out there on tuning. They're forum is full of people tuning LSX motors who can help you with any questions.

only thing i worry about is no tranny support. other then that how was the power/throttle response on the diablo? I called there tech support and the guy on the phone sounded like a reject....no help lol ha
