Cam time

TheOtherNick

The mod from over yonder
I decided my engine is coming out this winter to fix a few small leaks and I am going to cam it while it is out. I have ported heads and have no problem machining down the valve guides. I will however not be running over sized valves or an inter cooler just running meth. It will be driven quite a bit on the street. I have a **** box to drive around some days, but the gp will still be driven a lot. I am thinking between an xp, S1X or S2X cams. Any other ideas would be great. Dont plan on putting the heads on a flow bench so I wont get a custom grind. I also don't want to run a double roller timing set if I can avoid it. Probably going to run like 105 springs.

Hows that for telling ya what I want :th_thumbsup-wink:

I have the S1X and love it. Either S1 or XP would be great for what you are saying. Then later on if you want a little more and you milled the valve guides like you mention. Add rockers. That way you retain the nice idle and streetability of the cam you picked out, but add a little more lift.

The S1X has worked some wonders for a few cars around here. New stock timing chain and dampener on some 105's also has worked well thus far.

I need to go to Iowa when I get this car done...you guys got some slick rides up there. I've got family in Conrad and Beeman...TINY azz towns...might have to stick around when I visit them over a weekend and take a roadtrip.

Anywho...FWIW...even though the S1X is a better cam there is nothing wrong with the XP IMO...it is still a great cam.

So now I am debating the S2x cam. Anyone ever run it or know someone who has? I figure I am spending the money might as well go a little bigger.

why would you run the s2x? i dont really think anyone runs it. if youre going bigger you might as well run an IS3.

with a good tune, why not? you shouldnt be looking for good mileage if youre trying to run a big cam anyway.

stick with the s1x.
