Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

Cam specs?

looks pretty similar to most peoples dyno's where the power peaks around 6k and falls off hard afterwards. Looks like the vs and the xp are pretty close. What version desktop dyno is that? I downloaded one and played with it some but didnt get to many numbers right. Their are alot of parameters i need to change that i dont know what to change to.

Thanks to Rick (TooMch) for supplying me with an Excel spreadsheet with the following cam specs.

looks pretty similar to most peoples dyno's where the power peaks around 6k and falls off hard afterwards.....

thats not because of camshaft design...thats the drawbacks of the shortdeck/shortrod SII

it severly hampers high rpm breathing...but is excellent for low/mid rpm Tq which is what GM wanted.

i was told also that i think in like 99 and newer they have 1.66 rockers from the factory so add .020 to your lift numbers if your 99 or newer....

so did you use just @50 specs?

i got the seat to seat duration specs for the vs, xp, and s1x too they all pull pretty hard until 7k

im using desktop dyno 2003

okay well i have a question..i dont really get duration and all that. my question is what will 1.9 rockers do to a stock cam. i noticed were it said rockers with the stock cam but it was all the same..can some one enlighten me??

rockers on a stock cam make the valve open further, it will not change anything else that can help power (duration is the time the valves are open, overlap is the amount of time both valves are open both effect power) to me rockers are a poor mans cam, to do it right you replace the cam (my opinion only)

okay, i see. are rockers safe to use for an extended amount of time?? i would asume so. and how do you install a cam. do you have to remove the whole topend or can you go in threw the side?? does the engine need to be pulled out for this??

I don't see a way to pull the cam with the engine in the car completely as the inner fender is in the way, you pull the intake, and rockers leave the heads on unless there is a problem that needs addressed, rockers should be fine as long as the rest of the engine is in good condition (if the oil hasn't been changed since it was new don't try and add power basically)

okay..so i gotta pull the engine to put a cam in?? i cant like jack one side up really high, remove the suspension and acess it that way?? problew not but figured id ask. a cam would be nice but i dont have the means to pull the motor

Cam install with the engine in isn't bad. You remove everything but the heads/exhaust manifolds (so you can remove the lifters). Remove the lifters...

Then, open up the front and remove the cam. Tons of people have done it on the motor still installed, just go through the wheel well. I've never heard of someone pulling the engine just to install a cam.

Pulling the engine isn't much worse than that, though. All you'd need to do is detach a few cables, hoses, and manifolds then unbolt the flywheel and lift.

You have to losen all 4 cradle bolts, then drop the passenger side...but you have to be careful not to let it down too far or you'll pop your steering shaft loose.
