What would happen if you installed the dowel in the wrong hole on a double roller timing set up?

since no one has answered will do my best. there are timing marks on the gears. you would need to align these...as a basis for timing. making sure #1 cyl is a TDC. if you install it in the wrong hole...the marks will not line up........

I see what you are saying, but I am talking about the magnetic dowel not the key. Thanks though.
