Cam or new rockers?

I'm getting ready to do a top swap on my 99 grand prix gt, i was planning on getting 1.9 rockers with 105# springs, but then i thought about swapping my cam for the xp hot cam.

How hard would it be to swap a cam with the engine still in the car?

Also if i go with the cam instead, would i just keep the stock rockers and just upgrade the springs and retainers?

Thanks guys!

Any other info i need to know about upgrading the cam?

This will be my first time removing/ installing a cam so i just want to be sure i do it right.

You'll need modded retainers. Push rods should be fine. Use assembly lube on the cam and you won't have to worry.

Ok thank you!

I was wondering what kind of head gasket you guys use? I can't decide on fel pro or cometic MLS.

Instead of xp hot cam i think i'm gonna go with the intense s1x cam, would 130# springs be fine with stock rocker arms to?

Cam is easy.. did it my garage, motor still in car... XP Cam... If I did it again I would pull the motor because.. well thats just 1000 times easier and I have the tools to do that

Felpros worked great on the 2 topswaps I've done. 130# springs on fine on stock rockers, I like the s1x from the research that I've done.

for a topswap just get the topswap gasket kit from zzp, will save you money in the long run. Ask me how I know lol

No need for head gaskets doing a cam swap. I use felpro though for what it's worth. Rockers will be fine
