Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

Cam install, so many misfires TCC wont lock

Re: Cam install, need advice leaking exhaust valve?

He never told me anything about headers.

Well
His website also says "headers that are installed on Zooomers '97 GTP that has made over 460whp with a m90"

So... you believe everything he says or just pick and choose?

I don't believe everything he says, but that's well before your time, junior.

I believe his gtp made 460whp on his dyno.

Re: Cam install, need advice leaking exhaust valve?

Probably before my time (bought my Regal in '08)
but how is that relevant?

im using zzp s3 heads and can't find ANY solid flow numbers unless I tested them myself

Re: Cam install, need advice leaking exhaust valve?

It's relevant because you weren't around when clubgp was hopping. When zooomer spent lots of time on there.

Re: Cam install, need advice leaking exhaust valve?

But how is that relevant?

Wheres the flow data ?
JUST TELL ME THE FLOW RESULTS!! Lol

Re: Cam install, need advice leaking exhaust valve?

It's relevant because you're a newb.

You are going to have a hard time finding flow numbers. I have no interest inot searching for you.

Re: Cam install, need advice leaking exhaust valve?

I'm a newb? Okay....

Well don't tell someone NOT to buy AL heads because zoomer whispered in your ear during big spoon little spoon , that they are out-flowed by the s3 heads

i mean isn't that what you said in the headers thread? Don't tell members to buy products without proof of gains?

Re: Cam install, need advice leaking exhaust valve?

Finally got the cam installed, everything went well I hope. Cleaned up the pistons, block head surface and heads are about clean. Going to try and lap them and if that doesn't work going to take it to a local shop, orrr postpone till I can afford to buy ported heads or get them ported from someone local.

No I didnt. Quit being so butthurt.

Re: Cam install, need advice leaking exhaust valve?

Has anyone else use the cloyes chain and gears? The cam position magnet was pretty much too big because the cam sprocket wasn't wide enough and is ON the gear that runs the balance shaft leaving just the smallest gap between the two sprockets on one side after it was torqued down. One side is clearly on the balance gear drive sprocket and the side with the magnet you can just barely see light through it.

I've never used the gears. Always just reused the stock ones.

Re: Cam install, need advice leaking exhaust valve?

For those that have used the studs how did you seal the threads? Read a lot of controversy about what to use and zzp said teflon tape but is it a certain kind like oil and heat resistant?

Re: Cam install, need advice leaking exhaust valve?

This is what Ed Labarge told me to use, which I did, and haven't had an issue.

You want white paste type thread sealant with teflon in it .

loctite thread sealant ptfe on google.

Put on head studs and on LIM bolts so they don't leadk

Re: Cam install, need advice leaking exhaust valve?

I also used the teflon paste, you can get it at AutoZone, comes in a bottle with a brush.

Re: Cam install, need advice leaking exhaust valve?

Chase all the threads. If you want you can use an old head bolt and cut a pair of deep grooves down the side with a cut off wheel
use the PASTE
prep the gasket with copper spray
lube the studs with oil
torque
rinse repeat

Re: Cam install, need advice leaking exhaust valve?

Zzp claims they have had less leaks with Teflon tape, even though it is not designed for those threads.

I've always used Teflon paste though. Make sure if you use the paste, you torque the head down right away. Don't let the studs sit overnight and let the paste dry before putting the heads on.

Whichever you use, just make sure you spend a lot of time cleaning the threads.
