Cam install. Can't get crank bold off.. any help?

time out! why are we taking the starter off? you can get at the flex plate by taking off a couple plastic inspection covers under the car. it's just that easy.

then put a vice grips on the flex plate and it wont move past the notches that it catches on.

Yep, exactly how I got in there. Right at the bottom of the transmission where it meets the oil pan is a small, black plastic cover held on by two bolts. If you take that off, you will see the bottom of the flywheel. I had a pry bar that matched up to the shape of teeth really well and used that to hold it in place while breaking the bolt.

Don't worry about asking questions that you think are trivial. I wasn't born knowing everything about cars and never will, but what I do know I had to learn somewhere along the way. The more you learn, the less questions you need to ask.

Its a 26 gallon tank, 5.5peak hp 1.7 maint with 150psi max. The hose is 9mm 3/8'' hooked up to a husky 275maxpsi impac gun. I hammered it

The compressor sounds right but the impact is way too weak to do the job because I assume you meant 275ft/lbs. If you can barrow or rent a better impact I bet it would come right off. I had a hard time with my Ingersol Rand rated at 600ft/lbs.
