CAI now clicking?

So I installed a K&N CAI and now I hear a clicking sound when accelerating. The sound is only present under a medium light to medium steady acceleration. When I put the pedal to the floor I don't hear it. The sound is fairly steady, and I would estimate 3-4 clicks per second. Is this normal noise from the engine that I couldn't hear when the factory box was on? My friend has an 04 impala and he has a K&N and it makes the same noise, but it is less pronounced. Thank you for your time and help.
 


Lifter tick?

Sorry you also wasted all that money on a horribly designed intake with TONS of heat soak.
 
So I looked up lifter tick and I'll check into it. But my car does not make the noise while idling so I'm not sure.

And I added a lot more insulation to the intake myself, so hopefully that will take care of the heat soak.

The ticking is probably the metal top/end of the air filter tapping against the PCM or metal body.

Check the clearance between the filter and the PCM and that the top of the air filter is not close to metal.

Make sure you used the support bracket that connects to the transmission and underside of the plastic elbow, this will keep it from sagging, which it will over time if the bracet is not used.

I pushed the filter deeper into the elbow so the top of the air filter is not under the metal, and made sure there is at least 1.5 inches between the PCM and air filter.
 


With it clicking that fast, it might just be your internal noise escaping through your much larger filter. (like how on a s/c car, you get a beautiful whine from the intake when you rev it) And under full throttle it sucking in alot of air so you dont hear the noise. Check your fitment, and if its not that, just listen real close to your filter.
 
I have a friend with an 04 Impala that is doing the same thing (although much less pronounced). I'm guessing it is just internal noise like machinegun said. Thanks for all the advice.
 
Yeah, its more than likely just internal noise *top end noise really* you're hearing.
Keep listening, if it starts to sound different, or worse, let us know.
